Welcome to the website established in connection with the settlement among CIGNA HealthCare, Physicians and certain medical societies in the Managed Care Litigation that is pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

CLAIMING PERIOD ENDED FEBRUARY 18, 2005

In accordance with the CIGNA HealthCare Physician Settlement Agreement, the claiming period during which Class Members could submit settlement claims for compensation ended on February 18, 2005. Settlement claims postmarked after that date are invalid, and the claiming period is now CLOSED. The Settlement Administrator is continuing to evaluate claims submitted in accordance with the requirements of Settlement Agreement and is making settlement payments accordingly.

NOTE ON FACILITATION LIST REQUESTS

Please be advised that if Class Members do not request a Facilitation List before February 4, 2005, depending upon the size of the List, it is possible that Class Members will not receive Facilitation Lists in time to use to file Category Two Claims by the February 18, 2005 deadline. Although the Settlement Administrator is making every attempt to send Facilitation Lists to Class Members within 3-5 days of receipt of a request, it can take longer than 3-5 days to process and send the List.

AS SUCH, CLASS MEMBERS ARE ADVISED THAT THEY SHOULD REQUEST FACILITATION LISTS NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 4, 2005, AND ARE FURTHER ADVISED THAT FACILITATION LISTS REQUESTED AFTER FEBRUARY 4, 2005 ARE LIKELY NOT TO BE RECEIVED IN TIME TO BE UTILIZED IN FILING CATEGORY TWO CLAIMS.

If you have additional questions please call the Settlement Administrator at (877) 683-9363, or you can call Class Counsel Melissa Calabrese, Esq. toll free (866) 809-8003 or you can email Ms. Calabrese at mcalabrese@whatleydrake.com.

OPPORTUNITY TO WITHDRAW CATEGORY A CLAIM FORM

If you originally submitted a Category A claim and wish to withdraw that claim, you may do so by completing the Category A Withdrawal Form and submitting it to the Settlement Administrator. Your Category A Withdrawal Form must be completed fully and postmarked by February 1, 2005 to be valid.

By submitting a valid Category A Withdrawal Form, you will thereafter be entitled to submit claims to the Claims Distribution Fund for Category One, Two, or Medical Necessity Denial compensation. Any Category One, Two, or Medical Necessity Denial Proofs of Claim you submit must satisfy the existing requirements for filing such Proofs of Claim to be valid, including that they be postmarked by February 18, 2005. Note that by filing a Category A Withdrawal Form, you will no longer be entitled to receive compensation from the Category A Claim Fund, unless you subsequently file a valid Category A Claim Form.

Detailed instructions on how to withdraw your Category A claim are attached to the Category A Withdrawal Form, which you may obtain from this link, under the "Documents" section of this webpage, or by calling the Settlement Administrator toll free at 1-877-683-9363.

THE COURT HAS APPROVED THE SETTLEMENT. ALL APPEALS CHALLENGING THE SETTLEMENT WERE DISMISSED ON APRIL 21, 2004. THE FINAL APPROVAL DATE IS APRIL 22, 2004.

THE CLAIMS PERIOD BEGINS AUGUST 23, 2004 AND WILL END FEBRUARY 18, 2005.

The Litigation was brought by representative plaintiffs on behalf of a class of physicians against a number of managed care companies, including CIGNA Corporation and its subsidiaries engaged in the business of insuring or administering health benefit plans, referred to here as CIGNA HealthCare. The complaints allege that the managed care companies improperly denied, delayed and/or reduced reimbursement to physicians. Class Representative Plaintiffs and certain medical societies have agreed to settle all claims against CIGNA HealthCare. This site informs Class Members about the terms of the Settlement Agreement and how Class Members may submit claims for compensation under the Settlement.

As described in the Question and Answer ("Q & A") section, a Notice of Commencement of Claims Period has been mailed to Class Members explaining their rights under the Settlement. A copy of that Notice can also be found on this website.

Class Members should continue to check this website for any updates to ensure that they receive all relevant information.

Capitalized terms used on this website that are not otherwise defined herein have the meaning assigned to them in the Settlement Agreement. "You" refers to a Class Member.
